New Zealand Convention application deadline and filing requirements for US attorneys

An outline noting differences to US practice

New Zealand applies the 12-month Paris Convention deadline.

The minimum filing requirements for a New Zealand Convention application are:

  1. a complete specification in English, including a title, description, claims and drawings/sequences if any
  2. an abstract
  3. the name(s) and address(es) of the applicant(s)
  4. the nationality or principal place of business of the applicant(s)
  5. the name(s) and address(es) of the inventor(s)
  6. the country, date and number of the priority application(s).

We do not require any documentation signed by or for the applicant(s) and/or inventor(s), e.g. we do not require a Power of Attorney, declaration or assignment as in the US. Likewise, copies of the priority application(s) are not required.
